Artist Statement:
We may not control the events in our lives, but we control our reactions.
Coatlicue inspired my artwork—an Aztec goddess representing the earth, fertility, life, death, and childbirth. While the snake symbolizes evil and temptation, this artwork represents the circle of life. Our sacred heart holds the evil eye, which reflects protection, and the pot is our root's feet on the ground.
Being a woman in this world is filled with challenges and expectations from the moment we are born. There is more than meets the eye.
